16 Best Hair Perfumes 2022- Top Hair Scented Fragrance Mists

"It adds a feminine and airy lift to your hairdo that cannot be achieved with shampoo or conditioner," a reviewer reports. For a hair perfume that's not overpowering, turn to this mild version of Tocca's classic, a GH Beauty Lab expert go-to. "Clean and citrusy notes, such as bitter orange, are energizing but not overpowering, and I love how they combine with the lily scent that comes through," says GH Beauty Lab senior chemist Sabina Wizemann. Scent your strands like a delicous dessert with Pacifica's hair mist, "baked" with the aroma of rich Tahitian vanilla and honey. "I've gotten several compliments on my smell since I started using it," an Ulta reviewer says. Here, the best hair perfumes you can buy, according to Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab experts, including bargain fragrances.

Gisou Honey Infused Hair Perfume

This Gisou hair perfume infused with honey and argan oil is another GH beauty editor pick. True to its name, "it smells like honey and fresh flowers, and also helps my strands look shiny and smooth, all while not weighing down my hair," GH Beauty Assistant Katie Berohn says. Luxury hair brand Oribe has bottled its iconic citrus, jasmine, and sandalwood scent as a hair perfume laced with a plethora of nourishing plant oils (grape seed, olive, sunflower and sweet almond).

Hair perfumes are often made with less alcohol, which can dehydrate hair and make it brittle. And rather than being bad for your hair, many are infused with strand-boosting ingredients like botanical oils to enhance shine and softness. Even better, hair perfumes are often a fraction of the cost of regular perfumes, making them a great way to try a luxurious or new scent without spending a mint. One of the holy grail minimalist-chic scents, Narciso Rodriguez's warm, musky hair perfume has long been a GH beauty editor gold standard.

"So feminine and pretty and truly captures that beautiful smell of flowers," a Macy's reviewer reveals. "This stays on my hair forever and wears off beautifully," a Nordstrom reviewer notes. And while you could just spritz your go-to perfume on your strands, there is a difference between regular and hair perfume.

"It makes hair smell like you just got a blowout at a fancy French hair salon," GH's beauty editor says. Everyone knows the joys of an amazing perfume for keeping your body smelling fresh and lovely — and now there are fragrances created specifically for hair. Since hair is porous, it retains aromas well, which is why it often needs a scent refresh in between shampooing. That also means that perfume lingers longer on hair, making hair perfumes an amazing option for those who want their scent to last. Perhaps the most timeless of all scents, Chanel's celebrated perfume with complex citrus, floral and woodsy notes is now also a hair mist. Envelop your hair in sweet, ladlylike floral notes with this Dior hair mist, a bouquet of two types of fresh-cut roses plus earthy rosewood and a touch of citrusy bergamot.

Lunasia Dim Sum House Alhambra a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant

lunasia dimsum house

Few kitchens can prepare a noodle roll quite like this local Alhambra favorite. Rice wrappers filled with gently cooked lobster meat and finished with a subtly sweet soy sauce arrive on a platter set with the lobster shell itself for a presentation that draws attention from all corners. Indeed, this kitchen puts a fine edge on the area’s dim sum scene. There is not a single cart roaming this elegant dining room, which in turn is managed by a team of fast and friendly servers who will ensure that you never leave less than stuffed.

Elite in Monterey Park is one of the best dim sum restaurants in Los Angeles. It’s arguably the movie’s most memorable line and sets up one of the best post-credit segments in history. It also reportedly caused a big boost on the sale of shawarma throughout the country.

Chili Cone Queso - Cozy Cone Motel Snacks

And it’s a dish that’s as fun-filled as it is pun-filled. But the most inspired add-on is an Asian slaw that is so spicy, it’s disorienting. At $13.99, which includes a side of garlic chips, it’s a filling meal that feels like you just ate at a taqueria and KBBQ in one sitting.

Today, at $12.49, it is still the star attraction at San Fransokyo Square. Walk around the vast eating district, and you see nearly every table with an order. At $13.99, the shawarma is designed to be eaten in queue. Like all things in Cars Land, Cozy Cone Motel looks exactly like the movie. Its five traffic-cone-shaped structures hide five distinct food stalls, each featuring a unique item that’s served on, wait for it, cones. The best cone of all is the Chili Cone Queso for $9.99, which can be procured at the middle cone.

On the side, a not-insignificant helping of crispy tater tots is included with the price — it’s definitely what Giant-Man would order. So far, the gyoza sausage bun enjoys some anonymity as it remains undiscovered. And though it is the size of a hot dog, at $8.99 a pop, it’s intended as a snack. It’s warm and comforting and gets increasingly addicting the more you dunk it into the side of chili-soy dipping sauce that electrifies every subsequent bite. Thank goodness you don’t have to wait hours in line when you do. It also includes garlic chips, which is so ubiquitous at San Fransokyo, it must be what people eat in the fictional city of “Big Hero 6” instead of Lay’s.

And then there’s the “Not so Little Chicken Sandwich,” a breaded chicken breast cutlet blown up as big as your face, topped with a comically shrunken brioche bun. Obviously made for Instagram, this meal isn’t just a gimmick; it’s also great value at $15.49. You need a knife and fork to eat this very legit Japanese-style katsu, which is embellished with slaw, teriyaki sauce and chili mayo.

But why settle for the regular one when you can have the hot link corn dog? It’s just as juicy but packed with more flavor and heat. And for a mere $10.79, which is just 20 cents more than the original corn dog, it’s all that and a bag of chips, literally. And now you can have it at the Port of San Fransokyo Cerveceria here at Disney California Adventure.

This riff on the BLT transcends the definition of the word “sandwich.” The filet of salmon is so precisely grilled, it belongs on a plate surrounded with gourmet sauces and artful garnishes. And everything that joins it is as “gourmet” as the salmon, including the bun, which is an airy toasted focaccia. The house-made aioli is flavored with a hint of bacon, lemon and dill. And, of course, there’s the pancetta, the thing that makes up the “P” in “PLT,” which is patiently rendered to be shatteringly crispy. From steamed buns to fried rice, Lunasia serves traditional Chinese cuisine and Hong Kong style dim sum with a modern twist.

The food scene at the Disneyland Resort today is not the one of 30 years ago. Gone are the days when eating inside the park was an afterthought of hot dogs, burgers and fries. In fact, it has been widely reported (my previous articles on the subject included) that the food at the resort is now just as much a reason to come as the rides.

Shrimp is coarsely ground, mixed with a starchy binder, then molded into the desired shape. And the result is a bouncy, resilient texture prized in Asian cuisine. Lamplight Lounge remains the hardest restaurant reservation to snag at Disney California Adventure. But if you’re lucky enough to get a table, its Salmon PLT sandwich may be even better still.

No trip to the Disneyland Resort is complete without consuming at least one corn dog. Deep fried to a dark mahogany brown, it’s as greasy as they come. A napkin wrapped around its base will turn clear on contact, but you won’t want it any other way.

Pym Test Kitchen isn’t just a place to eat; the restaurant itself is an attraction. Outside, the Wasp’s giant-sized cellphone is repurposed as a menu board. You can stand there all day reading the funny text notifications that pop up from just about every Avenger.

So it was inevitable that the Avenger Campus was going to get a shawarma vendor. Since then, Choi has inspired countless chefs to fuse Mexican and Korean flavors together, including those at Lucky Fortune Cookery. They’ve created a bulgogi burrito that tastes as though it could have conceivably come from the Kogi food truck itself.

The second location of the popular - and truly excellent - dim sum spot from Alhambra, Lunasia has a big modern space right on Colorado Blvd. You order on a paper notepad, so you’ll absolutely get carried away and end up with a couple extra boxes of dumplings to bring home. Which is a very good thing, because this is some of the best Chinese food in LA. Our favorites are the jumbo shrimp har-gow dumplings, and the shrimp and spinach dumplings, which are light and fresh.

And with the introduction of San Fransokyo Square, arguably the first food-centered themed land at a Disney park if you don’t count EPCOT’s World Showcase, you can spend all day eating and never taste the same thing twice. Originally from Alhambra, CA, Lunasia is known for its delectable Chinese dishes and wide array of dim sum (点心), a style of Cantonese food prepared as "small bites" and traditionally served with tea. If all of that doesn’t already justify its $26 price tag, an order of this sandwich also entitles you to possibly the best French fries at the Disneyland Resort — fries that you can only get here, at Lamplight Lounge. At both venues, thanks to the pull of gravity, almost all of the corn dogs produced are lopsided. The more asymmetric the porous cornbread shell gets, the better the experience. Best of all is when the batter tears halfway through cooking, creating gnarled knobs of goodness reminiscent of crackly hush puppies.

Location

No trip to the Disneyland Resort is complete without consuming at least one corn dog. Deep fried to a dark mahogany brown, it’s as greasy as they come. A napkin wrapped around its base will turn clear on contact, but you won’t want it any other way.

This third location of Sichuan Impression in West LA has the same great Chinese food as the original, with a bigger space. Inside the restaurant, normal-sized pretzels dangling on a conveyor enter a glass chamber, get zapped and then exit as a snack-sized mini or a Bavarian-style behemoth. You can have churros anywhere on Earth, but when you’re underneath the shadow of the Collector’s fortress, trying the so-called Cosmic Cream Orb at Terran Treats seems more appropriate. It looks like a craggly rock formed by volcanic eruption. Or maybe one of those alien eggs ready to hatch a facehugger. A thick beef chili is poured into a sturdy, leak-proof, hand-holdable cone engineered out of bread with a texture somewhere between a pretzel and a bread stick.

Nearby Restaurants

In 2008, a then-unknown chef named Roy Choi put Korean BBQ meat inside a tortilla and sold it out of a food truck he called “Kogi.” He didn’t know it at the time, but it would go on to make history and his fortune. Korean BBQ meat, as it turns out, never met a better partner than a tortilla. For all intents and purposes, the breaded shrimp patty featured at Aunt Cass Cafe is made from the same material.

Nearby Hotels

There may not be a more controversial food item on this list as the shrimp katsu sandwich. And what camp you’ll fall into will depend on your familiarity with the fried shrimp lollipops served at dim sum restaurants. And in this writer’s opinion, there’s no better place to see this in practice than Disney California Adventure. From the wildly popular quesabirria taco to a spicy hot link corn dog, the offerings found inside the younger park are a dizzying kaleidoscope of cuisine that spans continents, honors cultures and challenges customs.

Traditionalists will want to end with a rich egg tart, but for a more soothing finale, order the minced pork congee infused with soy, green onions and wonton chips. The taco — with its tortilla shell stained red from being fried in the spicy grease skimmed off the top of the birria stew — is decadently crispy, beefy and cheesy. Dunked into the intense soup called consommé in which the meat was cooked, Cocina Cucamonga’s quesabirria taco could go head-to-head against the best quesabirrias in O.C., perhaps even rivaling those made in Jalisco, Mexico. It would be hard to find a more coveted food item at Disney California Adventure than Cocina Cucamonga’s quesabirria tacos. When it debuted a few years ago, it was such a hit that Disney imposed a rule limiting guests to two orders at a time.

Atomic Design 101 Increase scalability of designs using by Taylor Green UX Collective

atom design

React makes it easier to build complex UIs from simple building blocks. The scalability and abstraction of atomic design make it a great approach as web applications grow in size and complexity. React's component model really shines when combined with atomic design principles for assembling complex UIs from simple building blocks. Templates are very concrete and provide context to all these relatively abstract molecules and organisms.

Table of contents

For example, a form label, input or button aren’t too useful by themselves, but combine them together as a form and now they can actually do something together. By now you may be wondering why we’re talking about atomic theory, and maybe you’re even a bit angry at me for forcing you to relive memories of high school chemistry class. Here again, we now have tools which allow us to really work in a team around a common system. Sharing of the system is essential to keeping consistency between various products. We can also imagine that a component can be totally different in a context or in another. We still tend to think of responsive design as a reorganization of blocks on specific breakpoints.

Atomic React Component Example

For example, a masthead organism might consist of diverse components like a logo, primary navigation, search form, and list of social media channels. But a “product grid” organism might consist of the same molecule (possibly containing a product image, product title and price) repeated over and over again. Atomic design is a helpful design and development methodology, but essentially it’s merely a mental model for constructing a UI.

Step 3: Organism

Hopefully, you’re thinking long-term about your (or your client’s) business and that means setting up systems that work for years to come. As a business grows, your website project is bound to continue to get more complex. Additional complexity can be devastating if not managed correctly.

Atomic Design

atom design

React provides the ideal framework for putting atomic design principles into practice. Next, let’s look at effectively implementing atomic design in a React app. The React ecosystem provides many libraries that complement implementing atomic design, like Storybook for component demos and Styled Components for consistent styling. React functional and class components have a simple, abstract structure well-suited for implementing atomic components with any UI rendering technology. This guide will explore effectively implementing atomic design principles in React apps. Atomic Design takes content into the equation by carefully creating organisms that not only respect the content they will hold, but truly showcase it in the best way possible.

As you can see, in Prismic, your organisms and templates become a powerful combination that could result in an almost endless combination of Slices to create unique pages. Starting to think atomically at the design stage is critical for making sure your designs are usable and maintainable long term. Standardizing your design process will improve efficiency in the future and designing in developer-friendly ways will make website design handovers significantly easier.

Templates

Breaking UIs into atomic components creates reusable pieces that become intuitive “Lego blocks” for building complete interfaces. React is designed around building UIs through small, encapsulated components. React components provide the natural mechanisms for implementing atomic design levels. It encourages designers to invest time and effort into creating this entire system so that in the final stages of the product design, things can be done with agility in a practical way. The organisms at play can show the same molecule over and over again, like most card-based lists, or show many different molecules and atoms, like the signup and header examples.

A molecule is a collection of atoms that combine to create a group of repeatable elements. This is where we start to see things come together for specific uses, but these can often be swapped out for another molecule without any significant impact. When you’re building pretty much anything that exists on the web, you’ll realize that much of what you’re building fits together like legos. Some small blocks combine to form larger sections, which combine to form your site. Teams can adapt design systems defined in atomic design for use across different platforms like web, mobile, and so on, leading to product cohesion. You may have unknowingly always thought of web design in an atomic way.

The molecules work together to develop working aspects of the website, such as a storefront, interactive gallery, or navigation bar. Atomic design enables UI libraries to scale across large codebases. The atomic design promotes design consistency across applications. Use tools like Storybook, Styled Components, and Radium to build a consistent atomic component library and showcase isolated components.

For example, if I create a specific component that is a “contacts list,” I’m very quickly going to transform it into a generic component that will simply be a “list” item. We are thus going to make a real distinction between the structure of an element and its contents. When we design with atomic, we always have to keep in mind that the same component is going to be reused in very different contexts. I see Atomic Design as a slightly different approach to interface design but one which can make a great impact in the end.

Instead, we should be creating beautiful and easy access to content, regardless of device, screen size or context. The “+” button that appears in the center, between different sections allows editors to add additional Slices to the layout. Before we leave Slice Machine, though, let’s look at one more thing. In Prismic, you can create templates, which are called Custom Types. If we select the Hero Slice, we can see how our organism from earlier gets translated into fields for content editors to use in a CMS.

Person One would suggest, “Why not just name them elements, modules, and components? ” while Person Two would suggest, “Why not just name them base, components, and modules? ” The issue with terms like components and modules is that a sense of hierarchy can’t be deduced from the names alone. Atoms, molecules, and organisms imply a hierarchy that anyone with a basic knowledge of chemistry can hopefully wrap their head around.

Our higher-level SearchForm molecule leverages the simpler Input and Button atoms to compose a reusable search component. We can render this molecule anywhere in our app that needs search functionality. A core goal of atomic design is developing reusable interface components.

A Guide to Atomic Design with React Components DEV Community

atom design

The page stage is essential as it’s where we test the effectiveness of the design system. Viewing everything in context allows us to loop back to modify our molecules, organisms, and templates to better address the real context of the design. A lot has been said about creating design systems, and much of it focuses on establishing foundations for color, typography, grids, texture and the like.

Bringing atomic designs together in a headless page builder

Since designers look at every single atom as imperative, by the time the entire screens are assembled the design team will have something that resembles a design system. A whole base of atoms that all respect the relevant style, molecules that point to a specific function and organisms that can be added to the screens of the product. What do all of these design concepts have to do with Atomic Design molecules? In a way, they all seek to help designers create component molecules in a way that users can understand and enjoy.

You’ll see a list of all of the documents in your starter project. The “Home” document contains all of the dynamic content for the page that we ended our example with. Keeping code simple enough to change but dynamic enough to handle your business needs is one of the most challenging aspects of development. This is a pretty basic example, and you can do a LOT within Figma that gives you plenty of variety for how your components can be used.

Example part 1: Creating an atomic design system example in Figma

The first components are going to be closely linked to the product or the brand objectives. In this article, I’ll go over a bit of what I’ve learned and what to keep in mind when designing systems of components with Atomic Design. It took me several months and some concrete projects before gaining an idea of what “designing in atomic” really meant and what that was going to change in my everyday life as a designer.

Step 3: Organism

atom design

In the example above, we see how hydrogen and oxygen combine together to form water molecules. One of the really interesting things building a system of components with Atomic Design is that we are conscious of creating a set of elements that depend on each other. At Skyward, we make sure to build all our projects with a strong design system. Creating a standard approach that’s not tied to our own biases makes teaching other teams a lot easier, and simplifies lots of discussions in our own team. And with lots of page sections (organisms) we can build up our page layout very easily. It may take more effort to lay your foundations, but once you’ve got your sections created, building your pages takes a matter of minutes.

Josh Duck’s Periodic Table of HTML Elements beautifully articulates how all of our websites, apps, intranets, hoobadyboops, and whatevers are all composed of the same HTML elements. Thus the first thing which we are going to do is to create a unique visual language for our product that will be our starting point. This is what is going to define our atoms, our raw material and it is obviously very close from the brand identity. Follow this implementation for your designs, development, or both and you’ll end up with a future-proofed approach to creating websites that last years.

Benefits of atomic design

If you’ve been in the design world for a minute, you’ve probably heard many experts point to atomic design as a methodology for effective design systems. It’s a process that bridges a gap between developers and designers. It encourages site optimization and prioritizes flow because it recognizes the value behind even the most minor components. It also improves productivity when drafting a website structure because you consider every aspect exactly when it should receive attention. Together, they allow developers to construct complex, consistent UIs from simple building blocks efficiently.

Atomic design systems + Prismic = 🚀

This is when we take the templates the design team established, and build on them. If before we had wireframes that showcased the skeletal structure, now is the time to add all the final details. Slowly, the templates are left behind to form the actual pages that final users will interact with. The fidelity grows until a realistic high fidelity prototype is left on the page, using a professional prototyping tool to get the design to a more sophisticated place. By looking so closely at each little element, the team gains the opportunity to create a list.

React components are already designed to promote reusability through properties like composability and isolation. Groups of UI atoms joined together to form simple composite components. For example, a search form comprises an input box, button, and labels.

A template is an entire webpage but instead of having fixed content, the content is dynamic, which means that you could use the same template with different content many times. A blog post will often have the same layout and structure across all the blog posts (a template) but the content will be different between each post (a page). Though rebranding a website by changing a template in one fell swoop is tempting, atomic design reminds designers to take a step back to view the atoms first. It is time to take a look at your website-creating process through a microscope to understand how everything functions together.

Those atomic units bond together to form molecules, which in turn combine into more complex organisms to ultimately create all matter in our universe. Prismic provides a component called that handles dynamic page content for us. Helps match their content with the right components from our /slices file. Using Prismic as our CMS gives us a massive speed boost when getting up and running because it’s extremely compatible with atomic design systems.

Speaking from experience, running a business is all about doing things in the best way you can now to save yourself some time and improve results later. A content block uses a few text areas plus our button from before. DEV Community — A constructive and inclusive social network for software developers. My high school chemistry class was taught by a no-nonsense Vietnam vet with an extraordinarily impressive mustache.

To better understand how to execute atomic design strategies, you need to unpack the facets of a web page with atomic design terminology. Focus on creating generic, abstracted component APIs vs. tailored functionality. Once again, the design team can benefit from the flexibility of Atomic Design. Looking at the finished page, what falls short of expectations? More often than not, the team will focus on a molecule or organism on the page that doesn’t have the desired effect. It represents a specific point in the past that can be revisited and then implemented on the page.
